Description

Gravesend Sailing Club was established in 1894 and is believed to be the oldest sailing club on the lower part of the River Thames. The club is a Royal Yachting Association establishment and as such it offers a range of courses from dinghy stage one to first aid and yachtmaster theory. There is a healthy racing program, for both dinghies and cruisers, calendared during the sailing season as well as events when members can simply enjoy sailing together for fun. Gravesend is a family club, whose aim is to provide a hobby for everyone, whether they own a boat or not. Social events are frequent and the club hosts an annual prize-giving and dinner at a local venue.

If you don't already know the club please come down and see us. Members can be found at the club at most times of the day, including weekdays, and certainly around the times of organised events. Alternatively contact the membership secretary to arrange a specific time. The Discover Sailing events are the best time for prospective members to visit the club. You do not need to own a boat to join. To join the club you will need to fill in a membership form and send it to the membership secretary. Membership fees are as follows (A Direct Debit option is available) Full - individual adults over 18 - Annual subscription £204 - One-off joining fee of £50 (suspended till 2026) Joint - two adults at the same address, together with any children under 18 - Annual subscription £312 - One-off joining fee of £50 (suspended till 2026) Youth - aged 14 -18 (or up to 23 if attending a full time education course). - Annual subscription £20 - No joining fee
